The goal of Last War is to: survive, capture the Capitol, rule the server and protect if from enemy incursions. It is a long way to get to capture the Capitol and you will have to face the most powerful alliances of the server that fight for the Capitol.

The Capitol
The Capitol is located at the center of the map and is protected by 4 cannons that activate during the main capture Capitol event.

Map and Zones
The game is set within a map (also known as server) divided into zones.
Each zone features a village (or city) that provides rewards to the first alliance to capture it and provides continuous boosts (food/iron/gold boosts, faster construction, etc.) to those who maintain control over the village.
Each village has a level, there are multiple villages of level 1-6, while there is only 1 zone of level 7 that hosts the Capitol. The main goal of the game is to capture the Capitol and reign over the server as President.

Rules for the conquest of zones/villages
After 4 days from the start of the game, the City Clash event begins. During each City Clash event, a specific level of cities become available for capture by alliances.
It begins from level 1 up to level 6. Once level 6 is reached a different event for the capture of the capitol starts and it is re-iterated over and over again. Once a city level has been unlocked alliances are free to try to capture them at any time (some rules apply, see next paragraph).
Specific rules apply to the Capitol capture instead.
The City Clash event
Once the City Clash event starts:
- An Alliance’s R4/R5 must declare war on a City to start the competition, with one City per Alliance. Once a city is conquered the Alliance can declare war to the next, up to 3 declarations of war per day. A declaration of war ends either if the city is conquered or if 12 hours since the declaration pass. To declare war click on a village and if it is possible to declare war a specific button will be available.
- Alliances with no Cities can declare war on any level 1 City.
- Alliances with Cities can only target adjacent cities. It is necessary to always start from level 1, and it is not possible to skip levels. And so for example it is not possible to conquer a level 3 if you don’t own a level 2.
- City battles are tough and may result in Unit casualties
- Each city has its own set of boosts and first capture bonus
- The participants to the first-time city capture get an additional individual reward, and all alliance members get the city first capture rewards
- Capturing a city gives all alliance members a boost while that city is owner by the alliance
- Finish race goals within the set time to get rewards, sent to commanders by mail after the event
- Each alliance can have at any time a maximum of 6 cities. If an alliance wants to conquer a different city one of the currently owned one must be released
Example of boosts cities provide:
Attack a city
The best way to attack a city is to either teleport all attackers of the alliance around the city or to prepare the squads to station in mines/fields around the city to conquer.
Defend a city
Once an alliance captures a city, reinforcements can be sent to that city to protect it from incursions.
Given the fact that usually all the alliance members reunite as a hive it is not possible to protect easily all cities. It is always best to protect at least the most valuable cities because else a well organized alliance could capture it in minutes.
To reinforce a city just click on it and then click on the shield symbol to select the squad to send as defense.
Release a city
An alliance can at any moment release a city, to do so:
- Remove reinforcements from the city
- Click on the big X on the village (R4/R5 must do it) that will start the release process
- After 1 hour the city will be freed
