Troops – Obtain, train and upgrade soldiers in barracks and drill grounds
Troops (soldiers) are fundamental to the game in several aspects
- Every time you make an attack or rally with a team, a number of soldiers join it, based on the level of these soldiers the attack power increases
- Soldiers are needed to ensure that you can defend your base if attacked by opponents.

Troops levels
The soldiers have different levels, from 1 to 10 (also called T1… T10), each of which has different characteristics, the higher the level the greater the power. [I will shortly extend the guide with further details for each of those values.]
Soldier level 1
Soldier level 3
Characteristics of the soldiers
Characteristic | Meaning |
Power | It is the power that each individual soldier of this level contributes to the team when attacking or defending |
Troop Load | Indicates the amount of resources that a soldier of this level manages to “steal” when attacking a base. |
Obtain soldiers
Soldiers can be obtained in the following ways:
- Operation Falcon – Special Ops
- Soldiers training in the barracks
Operation Falcon special operations
By completing Special Operations in Operation Falcon you can obtain many soldiers without spending resources.
Special Ops are found on the yellow helicopter
Stages are available based on the Headquarters level
Try to reach the end of the stage with as many soldiers as possible, as that number of soldiers will be gifted to you. If you see you are doing a bad game just restart it before completing the stage (unlimited tries without losing anything).
IMPORTANT: Special Ops give you soldiers based on the maximum level you can currently train with the barracks, so before doing Special Ops make sure you have leveled up at least one barrack to the maximum level. See next paragraphs for barrack->troop level schema.
Soldiers training in the barracks
Training soldiers through barracks consumes resources and takes time proportionally to how many soldiers are trained and what level they are.
Each barracks, depending on its level, can train soldiers of different levels. Read further on how to manage the upgrading of soldiers and consequently how to update barracks levels.

Barracks level requirements
Below is the list of soldier levels and which barracks level allows you to train such soldiers
Soldier level | Barracks level |
1 | 1 or higher |
2 | 4 or higher |
3 | 6 or higher |
4 | 10 or higher |
5 | 14 or higher |
6 | 17 or higher |
7 | 20 or higher |
8 | 24 or higher |
9 | 27 or higher |
10 | 30 or higher + search for X units |
Additional barracks
You can obtain an additional barracks by completing the relevant research in the technology center in the Development section :
Select Development in the Tech Center
Complete the searches until you get to Extra Barracks
Researching Extra Barracks allows you to obtain 1 Barracks
Drill Grounds
Once the soldiers have been trained they will go to drill grounds (the further you play the more drill grounds you will have). From here you can see how many soldiers you have and what level.
Drill Ground -> Click on the police hat symbol
Here are listed how many soldiers you have and their level. If any team has been sent to attack/rally or collect fields then some soldiers will be Outside , otherwise they will be in-shelter
Upgrading soldiers
Soldiers participate in attacks and provide power so it is important to always upgrade them to the highest level, but there is a trick on how to do that and at the same time earn many more points for Arms Race and Duel VS. The total amount of time and resources spent is the same.
Some ground rules regarding soldiers training and upgrading are:
- A barrack can train soldiers only up to a specific level that depends on the barrack level, see paragraphs above for the levels
- A barrack can upgrade a soldier level but the upgrade can only be from any lower level to directly the maximum level the barrack can train. So for example if you have a barrack level 24 (that allows you to train up to level T8 soldier ) and you have a soldier level 3, that barrack can only do an upgrade level T3->T8.
- The time and resources needed to train a soldier directly to a level or passing through multiple levels is the same (+- some seconds).
- Points for Arms Race: Unit Progression and Duel VS: Day 5: Total Mobilization are earned each time a soldier reaches a level, being it from a direct training of because it was upgraded to that level
- You can have up to 4 barracks, just adapt this approach to the number of barracks you have
To score more points for Arms Race: Unit Progression and Duel VS: Day 5: Total Mobilization the training of soldiers should be stepped and the maximization of those points can be reached only if your barracks follow a certain rule of how you level them up.
Given the Barracks level requirements expressed in the previous paragraphs, you will want to arrange the barracks so that the highest level one unlocks a higher soldier level than the next barracks in descending level order. So DON’T upgrade blindly your barracks to highest level.
Example:
First Barracks: Level 27+ so to unlock soldier Level 9
Second Barracks: Level 24+(but lower than 27) so to unlock soldier Level 8
Third Barracks: Level 20+(but lower than 24) so to unlock soldier Level 7
Fourth Barracks: Level 17+(but lower than 20) so to unlock soldier Level 6
Now follow these steps to obtains a T9 soldier:
- use any of the barracks to train T5 soldiers
- use the fourth barrack to upgrade the soldiers : T5->T6
- use the third barrack to upgrade the soldiers : T6->T7
- use the second barrack to upgrade the soldiers : T7->T8
- use the first barrack to upgrade the soldiers : T8->T9
Now lets compare the points using a direct training of T9 and one stepped, and for this I will use the following points schema for Duel VS Total Mobilization, but the same logic applies to Arms Race Unit progression.
Duel VS Total Mobilization points:
As you can see the higher the level the more points you earn. If you first train a soldier to T3 you earn 100 points, then if you upgrade that same soldier to T4 you earn another 125 points, and so on.
Direct Training
1 T9 soldier = 250 points
Stepped Training (if you have 4 barracks)
1 T5 – > 1 T6 -> 1 T7 -> 1 T8 -> 1 T9
150 + 175 + 200 + 225 + 250 = 1000
As you can see using the stepped approach you earn x4 times the amount of points in this case for each single soldier.
Below a video that shows you how to do a soldier upgrade.

Does the troops count make it easier to clear the stages around the base? I have always wondered.
cristian
Honestly I don’t remember well enough the clear stages around the base, but I think that troops don’t play a role in that part
Dhaogun
Lets say that our troops has 2m troop load in total. We raid a castle of someone that has 5m of gold and other resources. In the first 2, I get 2m troop load for sure. But on the next ones or something I get like 10k per resource. How does this happen? What is the reason? He cannot keep them hidden he is 8-10 level at best. How can I search more onto this? He does not spend them either. He stil has resources but I cannot steal them after the first second or third attack of mine.
cristian
2 reasons: 1) he might have iron/food warehouse and coin vault that give you protection for a certain amount of resource 2) only the first 6 times you plunder another base you get 100% of troop load, after that it gets down to 15% and if you persist to 5%. This resets at server reset.

Is there a way to cancel troops in training?
cristian
No, it is not possible.
